A Young Mystics Online Course
Join Light Grey Art Lab instructors Lindsay Nohl & Jenny Wells and guest speaker Sam Guay, artist and author of the Blood Moon Tarot, for a workshop on tapping into your subconscious to find access to the well of inspiration, themes, and new content through dream interpretation, meditation / altered states / and freewriting among other methods.
Your Subconscious is Your Muse
The dark waters of our subconscious are full of strange creatures. In this workshop, we will dive in and explore the depths of what our subconscious can offer us in terms of idea generation, methods for harnessing personal mythology, and themes that are intrinsically tied to our own secret depths. We will be discussing different ways to utilize the subconscious via a few easy-to-use methods including dream interpretation, meditation / altered states access, and freewriting, among others! Guest Speaker Sam Guay will be discussing their own experience with using some of these subconscious-accessing techniques for their own work on the Blood Moon Tarot, as well as sharing some behind-the-scenes process for creating the mythology behind their new Tarot Deck and other works.
Themes covered in this class include:
• Why the subconscious might be the most potent place for creative inspiration and how to readily access it to inspire our creative projects and get to know ourselves a bit better.
• Sam Guay will be discussing how the subconscious has fueled their work in the Blood Moon Tarot and sharing personal methods for interpreting the themes that rose to the surface
• Participants will learn three methods for accessing the subconscious including methods for capturing dreams and interpreting them, accessing simple altered states (meditative or lucid dreaming), and skills for free-writing analysis.
• Sam will also be sharing several related spreads that you can do at home to further your practice in the subconscious and Tarot!
Sam Guay Sam Guay is a New England based artist creating paintings that explore their inner worlds. Often these worlds are woven with magic and tell stories of empowerment through our relationship with nature, transformation, and owning one's darkness. Sam’s intention with their work, whether it be a single painting, a story, or a large project, is to invite quiet conversations with those private worlds where we can find ourselves most readily and connect more meaningfully to the world around us. Sam’s paintings have been featured in various publications and they have worked with clients such as ImagineFX, Llewellyn, Spectrum, and Magic the Gathering.
